..About SoPrickly

Welcome to SoPrickly, the creative space of pricklywickly—a photographer, storyteller, and visual artist passionate about capturing life’s raw beauty through the lens.

🌵 Who I Am

My name is Erik (aka. pricklywickly), and I am a photographer and videographer driven by a deep need to create work that reflects my own unique identity and cinematic vision of the world. For me, art has always meant something more than something to admire – it has been a literal lifeline, a language through which I can transform my experiences, my pain and the life lessons I’ve learned into something meaningful, something useful not just to me but hopefully to the whole world.
I have lived with chronic mental health challenges for as long as I can remember. My journey has pushed me to explore what it really means to hold on to my emotional stability – to study different techniques how to deal with chronic depression – to educate myself on the importance of sleep, nutrition and exercise, as well as the role of creativity in healing and expression. In recent years, my physical health has also declined, bringing with it neurological and physical struggles that leave me fatigued and in constant pain, which further complicates my mental struggles.

Though these challenges have shaped every part of my life, they have also fuelled my creative journey. My work is not only about capturing images or telling stories – it is about expressing the raw reality of suffering, resilience, and self-discovery. Through my photography and films, I share my pain not to dwell in it, but to offer others a sense of connection, understanding, and perhaps even hope.
Art is my way of turning isolation into expression, and hardship into meaning. Every piece I create carries fragments of my journey, my struggles, and the lessons I’ve learned over nearly three decades of living with invisible battles. My hope is that in sharing my story through my art, I can give value to others who may be walking similar paths – or simply seeking a deeper, more nuanced perspective on life.
SoPrickly is more than art – it’s a reflection of my journey, and an invitation for you to find pieces of your own story within it.
